Renée Despres is an independent journalist and health policy and organizational consultant with more than 20 years’ experience working with public and private agencies. She specializes in rural and U.S.-Mexico border health. She served as a research fellow at the Burrell Institute for Health Policy and Research from January to June 2017, where she was the lead author of a comprehensive review of the potential impacts of proposed changes to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). As a member of the National Center for Frontier Communities’ Nonprofit Resource Group Consultant Community of Practice, she provides organizational consulting services to nonprofits, specializing in strategic planning, board development, and grant-writing.
